The Story of
Cooper D'état
The Beginning
From Battle Rap to the Booth
Cooper D'état is a rapper and producer from the city of Delft, South Holland. His name is a mashup of the French phrases "Tout à coup" (out of the blue) and "coup d'état" — a fitting alias for an artist who emerged from the Dutch battle rap scene to carve out his own lane. Cooper cut his teeth at Punchoutbattles, sharpening the raw lyricism and quick wit that now define his music.
The Studio
Building Something Real
In May 2019, Cooper and his long-time friend Barbarossa — a gifted beatboxer — began building a studio and talent hub in The Hague, just a few kilometers from Delft. That same year Cooper started producing his own beats, crafting tracks like "Lieve Motherfucker", "TRAM", and "Steek hem maar aan". He went on to release music with fellow former battle rappers Keuz, Sens, and Kaascouse, blending emotional storytelling with sharp social commentary.
